As global semiconductor supply is disrupted in the aftermath of COVID-19, Apple is considering reducing production of the recently launched iPhone 13 by 10 million units, Bloomberg News reported on the 12th (local time).

Citing a source, Bloomberg reported that Apple had initially set production of 90 million iPhone 13 units by the end of this year, but decided to cut production due to supply disruptions to semiconductor companies such as Broadcom and Texas Instruments.

Although Apple overcame the crisis through strong purchasing power and long-term supply contracts with semiconductor companies despite the semiconductor supply crisis, Bloomberg explained that it is being affected by the long-term supply shortage.

The semiconductor shortage is putting pressure on the automobile industry, starting with the production of electronic products.

Major semiconductor manufacturers predicted that the disruption will continue next year and beyond, as demand for semiconductors outpaces supply.

Apple's stock fell 1.2% in over-the-counter trading after a Bloomberg report, while Texas Instruments and Broadcom fell about 1%.

Apple and these semiconductor companies did not comment on the report.
